“One of the most seductive and hedonistic wines of the vintage, La Clotte 2005 (less than 1,400 cases produced in this 4-hectare vineyard) is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
An exquisite perfume of undergrowth, charcoal, kirsch, spice box, chocolate and espresso wafts from the glass of this full-bodied Bordeaux. With low acidity for the vintage, soft tannins and a fleshy, complex palate, this decadent Saint-Émilion should last longer than its first appearance in March suggests. “ (2018)
Château La Clotte is a prestigious Grand Cru Classé located in Saint-Émilion, on the right bank of Bordeaux. This estate benefits from an exceptional terroir of limestone and clay, ideal for producing wines of great finesse and complexity.
The blend consists mainly of Merlot, accompanied by Cabernet Franc and sometimes a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, offering rich aromas of ripe black fruit, sweet spices and subtle mineral notes. On the palate, the wine seduces with its silky texture, perfect balance between freshness and power, and a long finish.
With impressive ageing potential, Château La Clotte can be enjoyed young for its liveliness, or after several years to reveal the full complexity of its terroir.
