Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown on June 18, 2020: "Made from 97% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Laroque was harvested from September 30 to October 10. Yields were 43 hectolitres per hectare this year. Alcohol was 14.5%, with a relatively low pH of 3.44. Deep garnet purple, it bursts from the glass with bold flavours of blueberry jam, Black Forest cake, dark chocolate and lilac, with underlying notes of anise, espresso and pencil lead, as well as a hint of smoked meat. The palate is filled with layers of dark, seductive berries and a myriad of savoury nuances, framed by wonderfully soft, velvety tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long and fragrant. It is magnificent!
