Commented Luis Gutierrez: “I re-tasted a bottle of La Mailloche Vin Jaune 2016, which made a nice comparison with the more recent 2017 vintage. The 2016 vintage is lighter and fresher, and the wine showed itself to be very fresh and with a citrus character, with a bitterness marked by the manuals. It's vibrant and zesty, long and flavorful.”
An exceptional Chardonnay
Bénédicte et Stéphane Tissot's Arbois La Mailloche is a pure white wine from the Arbois appellation in the heart of the Jura. This 100% Chardonnay comes from a clay terroir that gives the wine a full texture and remarkable depth. On tasting, it reveals a complex aromatic palette with notes of ripe yellow fruit, hazelnut, almond and a subtle touch of minerality. Ageing in oak barrels adds tension and saline length, prolonging the pleasure on the palate.
How to serve and appreciate this cuvée?
This great Jura wine needs to be opened for at least an hour to reveal its full richness. It is best served between 12 and 14°C in a glass adapted to the great whites of Burgundy, to bring out its aromas and texture. At the table, it enhances refined dishes such as pike-perch fillet, morel risotto or mature Comté cheese. Its balance between roundness and liveliness makes it a wine of great gastronomy. Organic wine.
