92/100 James Suckling
A delicate nose of currants, black pepper, blueberries and leaves. Quite full-bodied, with creamy tannins and fresh acidity. Round and velvety, with a delicious cherry pit in the center. Silky, fine and balanced. Lively finish with hints of black pepper. For drinking or cellaring.
- When to drink this wine : To be drunk from now until 2034.
- Tasting notes: "Juicy and nicely rendered, with black cherry, plum and blackberry flavours that are interwoven with sweet bay, blood and iron notes. Silky and persistent throughout the finish, with a refined structure.
- Grape variety: 100% Syrah
- Pairings : With red meat but we also recommend it with fine poultry.
Ogier owns numerous plots of land throughout the Côte Rôtie area. Barrel tasting is a challenge here, but also a pleasure and a lesson. The oak seems to have mellowed in recent years, or perhaps the fruit is more assertive. "You could say that God has been with us for four years," said Ogier.
