Riesling Grand Cru Geisberg 2018 - Domaine Trimbach
From the estate
98/100 James Suckling
For a vintage marked by intense heat, this wine shows extraordinary vitality and dazzling purity! On the palate, it's richer and more structured than its crystalline nose would suggest.I love its notes of lemongrass and dried sage, sublimated by a zesty freshness of lemon peel.
The finish is impressively long and perfectly accomplished. Made from organically grown grapes. Enjoy now or cellar.
Read all about it :
Le Couvent de Ribeauvillé entrusted us with its vineyard several years ago, enabling the birth of our first Grand Cru Geisberg in 2009, marketed in 2015. This exceptional terroir, reduced to 8.5 hectares, lies on the Ribeauvillé geological fault and benefits from a limestone and sandstone subsoil, south-facing exposure and old vines on small, steep terraces. Long worked by Pierre Trimbach and his team, this Grand Cru joined the “Frédéric Emile” blend before obtaining its own name on the label, in line with the new regulations for Alsace Grands Crus.
From this unique terroir, Riesling Geisberg stands out for its intensity, energy and finesse. It is a gastronomic wine, designed for long ageing, between 10 and 30 years in exceptional vintages. It meets the strict requirements of Alsace's Grands Crus, with limited yields, a minimum alcohol level at harvest and a ban on chaptalization. This first Trimbach Grand Cru to bear our name reflects our expertise and commitment to winemaking excellence.
