Château Trotanoy 2001
Pomerol
94+/100 Parker
When to drink this wine : 2020 - 2050
Tasted by Neal Martin in 2017: "Unquestionably a Pomerol that had a difficult childhood before blossoming into the wine it is today. Indeed, Robert Parker's and my reviews were lukewarm out of the barrel and in the early years, which is perhaps surprising given the quality of the 2001s in this appellation. Now that it has 15 years under its belt, it is developing much more complex aromas, quite tertiary in style, but with plenty of fruit and remarkable delineation. The palate is structured and firm, very concentrated with good staying power. Unusually, it is the Trotanoy from the 2000s that is the most expressive at the moment, as this 2001 is relatively dark and introspective compared to its peers. Yet there is a lot of palpable energy in this wine, as well as a fascinating sense of harmony on the finish."
