Meursault Les Casse-Têtes 2020 - Vincent Girardin
Directly from the wine estate
Age of vines: 45 years
Geology :
The vines are located in the commune of Meursault, on the ‘Les Casse Têtes’ plot, close to the ‘Les Tessons’ climat. The clay-limestone soil is composed of blond earth mixed with small pebbles in the upper part, and deeper soil in the lower part, with a slight eastward slope. The vines are pruned using the Guyot method (Poussard), supplemented by various green harvesting techniques (disbudding, trellising, pollarding).
Vinification :
The grapes are harvested by hand, with sorting carried out on the vines, then in the winery, followed by pneumatic pressing for slow extraction.
Ageing:
After a light settling, the must is placed in 228-litre French oak barrels (15% new barrels) for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation with indigenous yeasts and bacteria. The wine is aged on its fine lees for 16 months, without stirring. One month before bottling, the wine from the different barrels is blended in a stainless steel vat, with racking before fining and light filtration. Bottling follows the lunar calendar.
Tasting notes :
The wine has a clear straw yellow colour. The nose reveals intense aromas of white peach, fresh pineapple, citrus fruit and a few mineral notes. On the palate, the minerality is very fresh and fleshy.
Food and wine pairing :
Ideal with beef carpaccio or sea fish pie with chives. Serve at 12°C
