Gewurztraminer Limestone Rock 2014 - Zind-Humbrecht
Domaine Zind-Humbecht
Palate sweetness index: 2, not technically dry, but sugars are not obviously apparent on the palate. Some tasters may find a slight roundness in the finish. These wines will taste dry with some bottle ageing.
Since the uprooting of our two 'youngest' plots in the Hengst, which were regularly downgraded to Gewurztraminer Limestone, this wine should only have come from our small Gewurztraminer vineyard on the edge of the Goldert de Gueberschwihr. Unfortunately, the coloured grapes, and especially the Gewurztraminer, were very affected by Asian fruit fly in 2014. The heavy crop losses linked to a severe sorting led us to blend all the limestone terroirs of the estate into this cuvée. Thus, Windsbuhl, Hengst and Goldert find themselves together in this wine. The result is of course very interesting and the wine shows an unusual structure.
Hint: Level of sweetness on the palate. Scale from 1 to 5.
1: technically dry or tasting dry wine. 2: not technically dry, but the sugars are not obvious on the palate. Some tasters may find a slight roundness in the finish. These wines will taste dry with some bottle ageing.3: medium sweetness, more important in the youth of the wine, which will gradually fade with age. 4: Sweet wine. 5: Sweet wine, very close to a Late Harvest
Caution: The bottles of Alsace wine do not fit into the wooden boxes sold separately.
