Domaine Zind Humbrecht - Wine from the property
TASTING:
99/100 Wine Spectator 2014
Cellaring potential : 2014 - 2050+.
2014 Tasting Note: "This chewy version has a refined tapestry, with layers of tangerine, mango puree, apricot tart and toasted praline flavors offset by a rich vein of smoky minerals and intriguing accents of fleur de sel, shredded coconut and candied ginger. It has a seamless integration of laser-like acidity. Drink now through 2050. "AN
PRESENTATION:
The altitude of the vineyard associated with the later climate of Hunawihr, means that Clos Windsbuhl is often one of the last vines harvested on the estate. For the same grape variety, there can be up to three weeks difference between the earliest plots of the Herrenweg and the Clos Windsbuhl.
This explains the aromatic quality of the Clos wines and their constant balance in acidity, guaranteeing a good ageing. Harvested often late, the grapes of the Windsbuhl do not botrytize very often, probably because of the altitude, but they often reach important levels of maturity.
The Clos has today a surface of 5.5ha. The Pinot-Gris is in the majority, followed by Gewurztraminer and Riesling.
Tasting : A harmonious version, with a nice note of cherry blossom mingling with aromas of ripe pear, slivered almond, lemon parfait and clover honey. A nicely knit style that shows off the spicy finish nicely. Drink now through 2024.
Please note: The bottles of Alsace wine do not fit into the wooden boxes sold separately.
