Tasted by JS in 2023: "Welcome to the dark side of the force with dry Riesling where gunpowder notes meet stone and peach. Dazzling, racy intensity. Super long and pure with a mountain of crushed stone on the smoky finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink it or keep it."

Description :
"The Grand Cru Rangen is a spectacular vineyard in every sense of the word! Its topography is impressive, with its steep slope and its dominant position above the old town of Thann and the Thur River which flows at the foot of the vineyard. The climate is also unique. The vines benefit from a lot of solar energy on the south-facing slope, but the higher altitude and the cold currents coming out of the Thur valley give this terroir a late season character. Its soil is unique: a compacted volcanic ash or Grauwacke. These rocks decompose into fine elements (clays with a high exchange surface), able to fix minerals and a precious humus, crucial in this poor rocky vineyard. The Rangen produces wines of unique and extraordinary originality. Volcanic wines may be fashionable, but this vineyard has proven itself as far back as the history of the town of Thann, in the 11th century! Very small crop in 2019 due to heavy millerandage, but the grapes were beautiful and were harvested with a rare concentration of flavor. Fermentation took forever to finish, but the wine is finally completely dry."
New in 2023*: The domain has chosen to change the packaging. The capsules are no longer present on the bottles. The domain wishes to be more respectful of the environment and has therefore stopped the production of metal seals. This does not change the potential of the wine and the tasting.
