Tasting notes - “Brimming with star fruit, bergamot and gunflint, this dry Riesling is dangerously fresh and mineral for this hot, dry vintage. The bone-dry palate is remarkably dynamic, with slate and Amalfi lemon zest strident on the finish. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or cellar.” May 6, 2024

Description: This wine is mainly a blend of various small vineyards scattered around the village of Gueberschwihr, to which we add the very small production of our two young vines located on the Grand Cru Hengst. Wines produced on a limestone-based geology, regardless of topography and location, tend to share specific characteristics. They are generally less expressive in their youth and will take time, sometimes years, to show their full aromatic potential. In their youth, these limestone wines always express a strong sense of austerity, especially on the palate, which carries an energetic acidity. A limestone soil ripens the grapes late by definition because it takes longer to warm up, especially in the village of Gueberschwihr where the proportion of clay is higher. They are drought resistant and tend to give a certain vigor to the vines.
